  22. Monkey Island II : Lechucks Revenge

  27. |    echuck! What a strange name. If you remember that was the name 
  28. |       of the ghost pirate from the game `The Secret of Monkey Island'
  29. |    which was released in 1990. Well in the first adventure Guybrush
  30. |____    Threepwood (Who thinks of theese names?! - DAN) was trying to
  31.     become a pirate, so where better to go than the most pirate-ridden
  32.     island on the planet `Melee Island TM'. He was asking pirates all
  33.     over the land if he could join their crew, but Lechuck, who
  34.     is a deadly ghost pirate who sails the seventh seas in search of
  35.     blood, is capturing all the pirates and none of them dare set sail,
  36.     so you decide to become a pirate and then see what happens. To
  37.     become a pirate though you need to complete the three tests of
  38.     thievery, Sword Fighting, and Treasure Hunting. You go through
  39.     these and then the governor of the island called Elane Marley
  40.     gets kidnapped by Lechuck, you rescue her and all is well. MI 2
  41.     starts of with you hanging from the roof of a cave with a treasure
  42.     chest in your arms, Elane comes and asks you how you got into this
  43.     mess, you then tell her the story. The game is like a flashback.
  44.     You begin on Scabb Island, which is an Island some where near
  45.     Melee. You are chatting up (No that doesn't sound right!!) some 
  46.     pirates and telling them about the time you burst in to the
  47.     chruch and Lechuck begged for mercy (Very dreamy person this
  48.     Mr. Threepwood - DAN). Anyway, the story goes that they are bored
  49.     with the old Lechuck story and want a new one. So off you go
  50.     to find the legendary lost treasure of Big Whoop to get a load
  51.     of cash and to have a whole new story. The game uses a new system 
  52.     called IMUSE, which changes the music so it corresponds with the
  53.     game location, like a spooky song for the grave yard part.
  54.     This adventure game is the best ever seen, it comes on a whack-tastic
  55.     11 disks! Yes ELEVEN! If you are using a Hard disk then there
  56.     is an installer program with it, if you use floppy make sure you
  57.     have at least 2 drives if you don't want to swap disks every scene.
  58.     Loading is very quick from floppy and it is one hell of a game!

  65. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

  70. |\  /| mmmmmnn! Well.. Not very good really. If you remeber the Arcade
  71. | \/ | version of the Ninja turtles out a few years ago, it wasn't too    
  72. |    | bad, well this is the Amiga version of this game, it how ever
  73. |    | may be based on the same idea, the graphics look like something    
  74.        that came out of a camels behind. They are all chunky and blocky
  75.        and the game moves ooooh so slooow!  The music is dull and repetative
  76.        and the enemies all look the same. There is not much to say about
  77.        this game. Oh and if you have seen the Turtles movie then you will
  78.        know that they have different coloured eye masks, in this they don't!
  79.        you can't tell who is who. You can have two players and the game
  80.        is a beat 'em up type game, like Double Dragon, only much worse.

  92. |    easure Suit Larry is a bit of a sad bloke. I mean he wanders the
  93. |    streets at night and goes in bars and hopelessly attempts to chat
  94. |    up womer by feeling their behinds. He is dressed in those kinds
  95. |_____    of clothes that only Steevie Wonder would wear and is desperate
  96.     for the big S (Aren't we all?!). Well this game is not very
  97.     good since it is a completely crap bit of programming. You start
  98.     off in the street out side a bar and then you have to click on the
  99.     path to the door, the mouse control is really crappy as Larry bumps
  100.     into everything, and the whole game is so slow. It is easier to
  101.     use the cursor keys to move him but it is even slower then!
  102.     The graphics are also very slow and blocky, and the sound is a very
  103.     cheap repetative song. The game is also very sexist and it gets
  104.     very boring after a while. You also can't open a door unless you
  105.     are very close to it, if you are about a 1mm away from the handle and
  106.     you type OPEN DOOR then it says MOVE CLOSER, and then you move in
  107.     and have to type it again. Not worth having. And on 1 disk you
  108.     can't really expect a good adventure.

  120.    |   his is what you call a game. Imagine this... You are on the 
  121.    |   suburbs of America, riding around in the hot summers day,
  122.    |   on a motor bike racing 19 other opponents, dodging the police
  123.        and having a race to the finishing line. This game has really
  124.        good sound and graphics. It is a cross between a beat em up and
  125.        a racing sim. You rush around on your motor bike and can punch or 
  126.        kick the opponents off their bikes. There are also special
  127.        weapons lying around that you can use, like baseball bats and chains
  128.        yes I know it all sounds very violent, and it is, but it is such
  129.        fun.  If you have evr played Road Rash on the Mega Drive then this
  130.        will bring it all back to you as it is almost identical to the Sega
  131.        version.  The graphics are quite good on the loading screen as you
  132.        see one person who the computer slects at random from the race you
  133.        are about to take and they give you advice or take the mick out of
  134.        you.  The sound is also very good, with a heavy metal beat on the title
  135.        screen.  This is about as good as beat 'em up driving games get. Go
  136.        out and buy it now¹

  143. due to the loading in screen at the start of this issue and the christmas
